  • Saga Prefecture’s mild climate and lush countryside make it an ideal location for tea production. 
  • The region is one of Japan’s principal producers of green tea, and its tea industry has a long history. 
  • The prefecture is also known for its production of wagyu beef and seafood, including sashimi and squid dishes.

 

  • Cultivation Notes:
    • Fujikaori cultivar was  developed in Fujieda, Shizuoka Prefecture.
    • Fujikaori thrives in the subtropical climate of Saga Prefecture
    • Fujikaori is a cross between Shizu-Inzatsu 131 (flower/seed) and Yabukita (pollen), registered in 1996.
    • Fujikaori is a unique and rare Japanese green tea cultivar, known for its distinctive jasmine-like fragrance.  
    • Fujikaori is not widely available, and  only  limited production be found from private tea estates.

 

  • Processing Notes: 
    • Kamairicha Fujikaori is pan-fried for a very short time at high heat to enhance and preserve its unique jasmine like fragrance.
  • Tasting Notes:
    • In the cup:  Very refreshing, especially cold brewed and served on ice for summer consumption.
    • Caffeine level:  Medium
